Episode 8: Dealing with Loneliness: Navigating Being Lonely vs. Being Alone

We’re back for season two! In this episode, we talk about times in our post-grad life where we’ve felt lonely, how we’ve dealt with it and the difference between being lonely and being alone. In the media, our 20s are usually depicted as the time in our lives when we’re always surrounded by friends, and a time when we shouldn’t do anything alone. But we’ve learned that this representation is not always true. It’s normal for us to feel lonely in our 20s, and that it’s also okay for us to want to do some things alone. Listen to how we’ve navigated these feelings, especially during the pandemic, and how we feel society has influenced our interpretation of loneliness.

We’re excited for you to join us in another season of Adulthood Pending! This season, we will continue to post episodes every other Monday so stay tuned to hear more adulting stories from us and our upcoming guests!

“I’m just thinking of this one scene in Start-Up, which is a K-Drama that I recommend, and there’s this one scene where the main character goes to this networking event. And I feel like it captures the essence of being alone because she truly only knows like two people there. She’s standing at a table by herself and she’s, like, looking around, seeing if anyone will talk to her.”
